I do not permit A Woman To Teach. [1 Timothy 2:12]

When reading the context of women teachers you will not see in 1 Tim chapter 1 and chapter 2 Paul never says he is speaking just as a man and not as commanded by God. Let us see when he uses these forms of speech.

1 Corinthians 7:1-16Now concerning the matters about which you wrote: “It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman.” 2 But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband. 3 The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband. 4 For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise, the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. 5 Do not deprive one another, except perhaps by agreement for a limited time, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again, so that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. 6 Now as a concession, not a command, I say this.[a] 7 I wish that all were as I myself am. But each has his own gift from God, one of one kind and one of another. 8 To the unmarried and the widows I say that it is good for them to remain single, as I am. 9 But if they cannot exercise self-control, they should marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion. 10 To the married I give this charge (not I, but the Lord): the wife should not separate from her husband 11 (but if she does, she should remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband), and the husband should not divorce his wife.  12 To the rest I say (I, not the Lord) that if any brother has a wife who is an unbeliever, and she consents to live with him, he should not divorce her. 13 If any woman has a husband who is an unbeliever, and he consents to live with her, she should not divorce him. 14 For the unbelieving husband is made holy because of his wife, and the unbelieving wife is made holy because of her husband. Otherwise, your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy. 15 But if the unbelieving partner separates, let it be so. In such cases, the brother or sister is not enslaved. God has called you[b] to peace. 16 For how do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?

[Paul is writing here relating sex, wives, divorce, and unbelieving husbands or wives and he says in verse 12 that he speaks, and not that God commands this relating divorce that you should not if there is peace in the marriage. So if he can say it here and then later in the same chapter.]

1 Corinthians 7:25 - 25 Now concerning[a] the betrothed,[b] I have no command from the Lord, but I give my judgment as one who by the Lord's mercy is trustworthy.

[He then speaks of concerning betrothed he hasn't got a command from God but he has given judgment as one by the lord's mercy is trustworthy. These points relate to marriage again. So God holds him trustworthy relating things he is saying, yet some women may want to ignore this fact and wish to be teachers, but we see Paul doesn’t speak this way when saying women can not be teachers.]

So we know when we read Paul's writings he will say I say this as seen here but is this the case relating to Paul's writings on women teachers? Remember however, he is trustworthy in Jesus in 1 Corinthians 7:25 he can give advice that is beneficial for people on this topic, we see that at the start of 1 Tim 1:1,11 he is chosen by the command of God our savior and entrusted with the gospel. However, when we read 1 Tim 2:1-15 again, not one verse says "I, not God" or "I as a man" However there are two questions 1) You would need to ask yourself does he indicate this as to relate his own understanding of women teachers? Or does he speak of scripture and give reasons, as to why women can't teach?  and the second question 2) Did Paul write here in 1 Timothy that he was only speaking in this passage relating specific women teachers or did he speak generally as women not to teach?

My answer and I will read the verses in this sermon after my answer, Paul says "I do not permit women to teach." This is a generalization of women and not some specific women, and he, then even goes to speak of scripture relating to the fall, how Eve was deceived.

May Yah shine his face on the reader and give you the drive, hunger, and love to seek his truth in sincerity.

Shalom.
